It is not just a nail

Nails are solid covers for human fingers and toes. They consist of keratin material basis. There are five nails on each hand and five on each foot. The nails are classified as additional members of the skin, producing cells present in the skin. The cuticles of the nails prevent germs from getting into the human body. The nail is rich in blood vessels, which allows doctors see them during medical examinations. In healthy people, nails are a light pink color, while in patients who have a lack of oxygen they turn blue in color.
